Creating highly scalable data infrastructures and applications. Working with MongoDB, Python, and machine learning algorithms. Working with large corpora of text documents.Administrated over 100 virtual instances for over a year in Amazon's EC2, building and monitoring MongoDB clusters, performing backups, recovering from hardware failure.Built a distributed document scoring system using the Kestrel distributed queue, Python servers and MongoDB.Optimized Python code with C extensions. Did extensive performance analysis using Python and C debuggers and profilers, through all our code and even down to the MongoDB client libraries, and contributed optimizations to those libraries back to the MongoDB community.Created an adapter for Hadoop MapReduce to run over sharded MongoDB clusters, including running in streaming mode to allow the use of Python mapper and reducer scripts.Presented technical details of performing text analysis over MongoDB at the MongoBoston conference and Boston MongoDB MeetUps.Built a 400 node Accumulo cluster to store and perform MapReduce over a large text corpus, reaching several million writes per second and reducing processing time from months to days.
