Aaron Scott is a multimedia journalist and a science podcast producer and host with over 10 years of experience creating compelling stories about the wonders of the natural world, the human experience, and the complex ways the two intersect.     Created, reported, produced, and hosted OPB's ten-part narrative podcast "Timber Wars," about how a conflict over old growth trees and the spotted owl in the 1990s transformed the Northwest and the very way we see—and fight over—forests and the natural world. The series has been downloaded more than a million time, been included in college curricula around the country, and won several national awards, including the National Headliner Award for Best Narrative Podcast and being the first audio work to win the MIT Knight Science Journalism Program's Victor K. McElheny Award.The MIT award judges "praised 'Timber Wars' for its rigorous reporting, artful storytelling, and deft handling of intricate science. 'It ticks all the boxes: superb craftsmanship and storytelling; delightful science that is explained without pedantry; and real impact,' said the jury. 'They really dug into the history and were able to connect it to the current day.' The podcast also resonated with policymakers. Oregon State Representative Dacia Grayber called it 'the best history and take on this I’ve ever heard.'”Developed a national promotional strategy that earned national media coverage and episode placement on leading podcasts, including "Throughline," "Reveal," "How to Save a Planet," Birdnote Presents "Grouse," and the "Outside" podcast.
