I founded the team for the greenfield iOS and Android mobile apps for WooCommerce merchants to manage their e-commerce stores. We shipped our Minimally Viable Lovable Product within a year as I grew the teams. By processing credit card transactions for merchants, this app became the first at Automattic that was revenue-generating. This role used all of my technical and people skills to solve complex business issues including go-to-market planning and brand awareness.- Grew the WooCommerce mobile product engineering team from one to 30 engineers into five teams, including a team focused on APIs. Hired a Product Manager near the end of my tenure.- Prevented the loss of $2 million USD annually in payment fees by swapping a contractual deadline with another team, delivering earlier than expected, and advancing the roadmap beyond expectations.- This role required me to know our merchants, bridge my teams across divisions, develop features in a product development process, own the roadmap, plan and recruit for staffing, coordinate go-to-market, mentor, and coach engineering leads, and cultivate a quality approach towards software development.- My influence extended beyond the mobile apps into the APIs, cloud infrastructure, WooCommerce payments with Stripe, and the core WooCommerce product.

Architected and developed an enterprise iPad application to assist with in-person marketing, demonstration, and proposal writing of home standby generators. The app is still in use today.Principal engineer involved with ideation around defining the problem space during the client acquisition phase, working through requirements, and defining the jobs to be done.

Architect, design, develop, implement and support global enterprise Java web applications using Java 6 with EJB 3.1/JPA and Spring Framework, Spring MVC, and WebFlow. Focus on high concurrency and scalability including vertical and horizontal clustering with JBoss, EHCache, and Hibernate Search. Experienced with integration of services into monolithic applications including Bond Adapt and JD Edwards.Design and develop iPhone/iOS-based applications using Objective-C 2.0 and other Apple technologies and frameworks like Core Data, Core Location and MapKit.

Worked with a Java-based warehouse management system purchased by the US Navy and deployed in a number of warehouse supply ships. Built a system to integrate with the Navy stores and ordnance inventory system. Installed and tested WiFi access points and level 2 encryption technologies to support wireless handhelds with the WMS. Required an adaptive personality to be able to handle a vast number of issues with the system, especially when on-site.

Designed and developed PeopleSoft SQR reports, Crystal Reports, and a PeopleCode-based web applications in both HR and Financial PeopleSoft environments.

Managed a reporting system for a large non-profit management system called TIMSS. Designed and developed reports using tools such as Cognos Impromptu, PowerPlay and Brio Query. Helped maintain a small data warehouse which included modifying data load scripts in PL/SQL. Also performed a number of duties to assist the IT Director with technology planning and forecasting.

Performed quality assurance audits on data entry into IBM's main marketing database. Ran reports using an AS/400 SQL query interface and OfficeVision report writer.
