At KIPP Indy College Prep Middle School, I taught 8th grade literacy and was hired via the 2017 Teach For America Indianapolis corps. At KIPP, there are two literacy teachers for the 8th grade. We split the ~120 8th grade students into four cohorts (i.e. homerooms), and each literacy teacher instructs two cohorts for 100 minutes each per day across two time blocks. In other words, I taught 60 students. I also taught six-student small literacy groups daily.In addition, I worked with an instructional coach who sharesld feedback and had dialogue with me about my classroom management, physical environment, and lesson plans. Furthermore, KIPP conducted all-staff professional development sessions for two hours weekly. In addition to my responsibilities as a classroom teacher, I also founded and coached the cross country team. Furthermore, I coached the track team to win our conference. My two-year commitment to TFA spans the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years. It started with a five-week training in Texas at the Houston Institute and also included regional Induction and Orientation. Now as a corps member, I receive regular coaching via my Manager of Teacher Leadership and Development (MTLD) and attend recurring professional development sessions led by TFA.In addition to my work as a teacher, I was invited to join the Teach For America CU Alumni Board. As the only current corp member on the Board, I serve as one of 10 Board Members who mentor and support current CU students who are interested in Teach For America. I provide advice and perspective as they advance through the admissions process.Furthermore, I volunteer as a TFA Indy Ambassador in which I share regular classroom updates with community members and supporters to build relationships to effect meaningful education outcomes.

At OEF, I primarily supported the Global Events Director, which afforded me the opportunity to work on a wide range of topics and types of projects. Our main focus was OEF's new event series: Innovations in Partnerships, which launched in February 2017. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of the Events Department at this transitionary time, as I had the opportunity to have lasting input on event series design. Specifically, the first Innovations in Partnerships event, in coordination with the International Peace Institute, the World Ocean Council, the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations, and Secure Fisheries (a program of One Earth Future) took place in New York at the International Peace Institute on February 13. I attended as a notetaker for one of the discussion tables. The event was phenomenal and was attended by 42 guests, including numerous ambassadors and staff from multiple UN missions including: France, Portugal, Morocco, Peru, Mauritius, Sweden, Kenya, India, Cabo Verde, Seychelles, Maldives, Senegal, and Korea. Numerous C-level executives from were also in attendance. Perhaps most incredibly, the 71st President of the UN General Assembly also joined the event and delivered closing remarks and answered questions. I was nothing short of inspired by the global diversity and high-level policy discussions that happened during the event. Getting to both help plan the event and attend it was a pleasure and an honor. In addition, I conducted policy and event research, utilizing critical thinking and writing skills to produce succinct internal briefs and polished external documents. My background in finance was also been utilized by our budgetary work, and I took a central role in budgeting for the events department. Beyond these areas, my responsibilities also included carrying out routine administrative support for events design, planning, and implementation as needed.

At BSW Wealth Partners, I managed a team with oversight of fixed income assets valued at over $100 million. In my capacity as leader of this team (whose membership peaked at ten people), I oversaw two rounds of our hiring process. I handled every aspect of the hiring process, from designing advertising materials, to outlining requirements for the position, to reviewing cover letters and documents, to conducting the interviews, to making final hiring decisions. In my time at BSW Wealth Partners, I oversaw two hiring rounds over two years. I also designed the new staff training sessions and carried them out. More broadly, my role at BSW Wealth Partners has centered around their sister company and shepherd of their impact investing strategy: R3 Returns. For its clients, R3 creates laddered portfolios of municipal bonds, which are factored into their broader investment strategies. As a participant in the Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) space, R3 researches and reports on the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the projects that these municipal bonds fund. I helped outline the original rating metrics that would be used to evaluate these qualitative impacts of the fixed income funds. In later years as I assumed leadership of the rating team, I focused on implementing a well-defined, quantitative framework for bond rating, which has allowed the team to scale its work. In total, our team rated over a thousand municipal bonds using the framework I designed.

I co-founded and directed the #StudentVoicesCount Movement out of CU Boulder. We were born from a desire to increase the number of tickets allocated to the CU community during the Republican presidential primary debate on October 28, 2015. As we realized the power of our positive, non-partisan message, we sought to provide our student peers and the wider community an opportunity for genuine engagement with political thought leaders. By partnering with #BeHeardTV (a non-profit, unaffiliated, millennial-run news network), we conducted a live three hour broadcast to YouTube. Following the pre-show student panel, we brought in a diverse assortment of guest speakers and provided our live and online audience the chance to ask them questions. Guest personalities included: - Chairwoman Alex Smith of the College Republican National Committee- Chairwoman and Founder Christina Tobin of the Free and Equal Elections Foundation- Governor Martin O'Malley of the State of Maryland- Vice Chairman Morgan Young of the Boulder County Democrats- Former Vice Chairman Scott Schaefer of the Boulder County Republicans- Co-Founder and President Alexander McCobin of Students for Liberty- Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party- U.S. Congressman Jared Polis of Colorado District TwoLeading up to the broadcast, I oversaw all logistic coordination and event planning, directed other #StudentVoicesCount members, taught others how to lobby campaigns and government officials, worked with the CU administration to secure approval for the broadcast, performed extensive outreach and social media campaigning, managed interactions between the #BeHeardTV production crew and #StudentVoicesCount, and handled all media requests and interviews. During the broadcast, I moderated the pre-show student panel and hosted the main show, interviewing all of our guests. Through my participation in the CU Public Interest Internship Experience (PIIE), I spent nine weeks interning with the City of Boulder's Energy Future Project. I supported staff members on a variety of functions relating to Boulder's efforts to form its own municipal electric utility. Some of the highlights of my work include: researching ten energy policies to prioritize the top three based on impact and feasibility for City Council, creating a tool to estimate Boulder’s annual expenditures on energy (used in presentations to City Council), composing and editing drafts of legal testimony for filing with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, and synthesizing information from various instructional webinars into single page memos for supervisors.
