About Aaron Feiner

From a young age I have always had a curiosity for computers, gadgets, and generally anything involved with technology. Starting with helping my brother build our first Windows 95 PC and booting up minesweeper, to this day I still enjoy taking apart electronics or anything mechanical. Following along with much of the knowledge and skills gained through personal life experience, I entered the world of cyber security as a Cyber Technology Specialist at Darktrace where it has since become my passion. Becoming a relative expert in deployments, configuration, and threat hunting; I currently support MSSP clients as an Information Security Advisor at Trustwave. We provide our clients with a wide range of services and custom solutions across many different platforms, personally focusing within the Microsoft Security Ecosystem and managing Sentinel & Defender Environments. Within cyber security, I am particularly interested in the aspects of social engineering and using it to gain access to technical systems, leveraging my background in neuroscience and psychology; as well as Digital forensics (DFIR) and attempting to recreate cyber attack chains. Before security, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a B.S. in Neurobiology and was preparing for medical school when I accepted a position locally at Epic Systems. Gaining invaluable professional experience while implementing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software solutions, I oversaw the install of my application at one of California's largest healthcare & insurance providers. Wishing to return to academia and continue to pursue Neuroscience I moved to Seattle and joined an incredibly diverse team of world-renown scientists, researchers, and developers at the Allen Institute for Brain Science. Using fluorescently-tagged proteins, we began to image, map, and recreate the mouse brain in virtual reality. Here I also managed the contractor relationship responsible for the deployment, configuration, and security of onsite storage servers required for the imaging project. This really sparked/reignited my passion for technology, and after publishing three papers with my team I decided pursue security full time. Outside of professional life I enjoy biking, golf, or you can likely find me at the park with my dog!
