I was the sole DBA, which means I delivered 24/7 support for DEV, QA and Production databases.I don't mean to brag about it but I made 99.9% of the queries to the production server execute in less than 150ms. Hey, considering that it takes 300ms to blink, that's pretty cool stuff, isn't it?I also collaborated with development teams to help them follow best practices for database design and construction.

As a SQL Server DBA I... well... I did what a DBA does. You probably know what I'm talking about: I took good care of the servers, ensured they were up and running, fixed things when they got broken and all that DBA stuff.The only difference, compared to my previous experience, is that all the communication with the client was in English (both written and verbal) and I wasn't allowed to play around with the operative system (that's what System Administrators are for anyway)

In charge of 30+ production database servers (tuning, implementing disaster recovery plans, migrating to SQL Server 2005, troubleshooting, etc.)

As DBA it was my responsibilty to manage user access to the databases, to ensure that the scheduled jobs were running correctly, to manage backups, patch the server etc. I also colaborated in the design and implementation of a SQL Reporting Services reporting platform that supports the back office operations.
