SMACNA is an international trade association representing 3,500 contributing contractor firms and is a leader in promoting quality and excellence in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry. SMACNA members are responsible for effectively delivering the clean air Americans breathe in offices, homes, and hospitals; for many of the attractive facades you see on today’s stadiums and office buildings; and for the comfortable, healthy, and safe living environments in which our citizens live out their daily lives.

Represent the New York SMACNA members and chapters in state and national legislative matters, and in dealings with the national association. SMACNA NYS provides a forum for members to address concerns and deal with them collectively.

As Managing Director of SMACNA Rochester Inc., I represent contractors in labor matters with SMWIA Local 46. SMACNA is charged with creating a productive labor environment, promoting its member companies and affiliated union, providing technical expertise and education programs, and representing its members in targeted government relations activities.

Our members include every type of commercial building contractor, service providers, and suppliers. Major activities include information products, safety and management training, social and networking events, government relations, and association management services.

As Managing Director of the Construction Industry Association of Rochester (CIAR), I represent contractors in labor negotiations with the Laborers, Bricklayers, Carpenters, Operating Engineers, and Tapers (Painters). In addition to fostering a productive labor climate for our members, CIAR actively promotes union construction and apprenticeship. I also represent management as a trustee on employee benefits funds with assets in excess of 5 billion dollars. This includes service as Secretary and Chairman of BAC Local 3 Benefit funds Rochester Chapter. In addition I have served as Vice Chairman of Northeast Regional Carpenters Funds (NY) and am currently a member of their executive / finance committee.

Chief operating officer of a $6 million per year commercial roofing and sheet metal company. I handled profit and loss and was directly responsible for 50 percent of sales. During my tenure at McGonigle & Hilger we successfully grew the maintenance sales division from less than 1/10 to over 1/3 of operations in three years. During the same time frame we also reduced procurement expenditures by 5-7 percent and developed systems to fully utilize apprentices. My experience included: Chief Operating Officer, January 2001-December 2002; Vice President / Project Management, December 1997-December 2000; and Risk Manager, June 1990-August 1995 (Part-Time).

Managed the affairs of a small local association focused on commercial roofing companies in Buffalo New York. The association was involved in labor relations and also was very active in state labor law issues.

Handled alumni affairs program for GSPM during its move into The George Washington University. In addition, I was involved with a detailed records transition between the old GSPM system and GW's programs.
