Data has so many stories to tell us, and I love the creativity behind figuring out exactly how to listen to get the most out of it. With a Master’s degree in Computer Science (focused on Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence and Databases), I have experienced working with data across the spectrum. This has ranged from the initial data engineering of scoping out available data and designing scalable data models and ingestion pipelines to yield usable datasets, to then performing data analysis to derive insights that garner direct business impact.Most recently, I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Intel where I developed algorithms to perform cutting-edge analysis of timeseries data that I then visualized within dashboards and presentations to create compelling stories to help drive business decisions. Additionally, I designed and built data ingestion pipelines within AWS using step functions and Lambdas to contribute datasets to a growing data lake.While earning my Master’s degree I focused on natural language processing research, specifically exploring the use of large language models for automatic text summarization. I am passionate about the ethical use of these models, and my research examined the fairness and diversity of summaries generated by these models when summarizing social media data of different dialects, and contributed a novel dataset to the field to enable future research in this area.
