Leading strategy and execution of Liberty Mutual's book transfer, book consolidation and internal conversion programs to drive growth and scale within our independent agent distribution channel, while delivering operational and expense efficiencies. Includes Safeco Insurance's industry leading personal lines book transfer program and Liberty Mutual's small commercial book consolidation program. Plus internal book conversions and distribution-focused integration efforts related to acquisitions, including the $2.5B+ written premium book migrations of State Auto.

Delivered profitable growth, stronger agency partnerships, and highly satisfied customers for Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance via strategic partnerships with other insurance carriers, and national agents and brokers. My primary focus was cultivating new, large-scale growth opportunities for both our Safeco personal lines and Liberty Mutual business lines within the Independent Agency distribution channel. This includes renewal rights / book transfer agreements for portions of other carriers business via our comprehensive transfer solution, which enables companies to gracefully divest low-scale and/or non-core lines of business to focus on their strengths. We provide a smooth transition for the carrier, their agents and policyholders. During my time in the role, we successfully executed 7 of these agreements to move over $700M in personal lines premium to Safeco countrywide.

Led the profitable growth of Safeco Insurance in New York and New Jersey through cross functional strategy development and execution, strong partnerships with over 1,000 independent insurance agents, and delivering upon our commitment to our customers. P&L responsibility (shared with state product director) for $200M+ in annual written premium.

•Established and led the Commercial Insurance Claims organization’s first centralized data strategy and operational reporting department, including the strategy, design and hiring to expand the team from 8 to 22.•Developed a 3-year strategy to deliver robust operational data, reporting and analysis capabilities to a 4,400 person organization. Executed first 2 years of the plan, including launching a project to deliver a claims data warehouse & reporting platform.•Led design and delivery of the core management tools for a diverse set of operations – daily, weekly and monthly dashboards and results packages at all levels of the organization.•Identified and negotiated stakeholder reporting and analysis priorities to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and optimize return on investment in resource capacity and IT spend.•Created results tracking scorecards that determined cost/benefit and provided performance insights for the most significant loss cost accuracy initiatives.

Completed a 2-year management development program, comprising four 6-month rotations.Commercial Insurance, Claims (Boston, MA) •Led creation and kick-off of a multi-year, cross-functional Claims Data & Reporting strategy with the objective of delivering centralized claims data with robust reporting and analysis capabilities.Liberty International Underwriters, Operations (London, UK)•Led space planning, financial modeling and analysis to support the selection and leasing of space for a growing division in London (300 FTE, $800M premium, $168M lease commitment).•Analyzed Professional Indemnity line, created plan to achieve profitability goals, executed on initiatives, incl. risk selection, underwriting process improvement and claims outsourcing.Safeco Insurance, Distribution (Golden, CO)•Developed 3-year strategic plan to profitably grow Safeco’s Mountain Region (6 states) premium. Created P&L forecast tool and projections. Led development of state-specific tactical action plans.•Executed on select high-impact initiatives: sales staffing model and territory alignment; Nevada retention improvement; Utah liability limit appetite & pricing; high-potential agent re-engagement. Commercial Insurance, Product Management (Boston, MA)•Developed the eligibility criteria and pricing strategy for a streamlined underwriting process for small auto and workers compensation policies. Partnered with underwriting staff to launch a pilot, including development of the workflow, organizational structure, training and evaluation criteria.•Led a cross-functional team to assess the auto dealer insurance market, including sales and profit potential, competitor positioning, product features, underwriting concerns, and agency/broker relationships. Created an implementation plan to write new business for auto dealers in 2012.

Katahdin Consulting specialized in assisting retail companies drive a competitive advantage through strategic and operational analytics, supporting technology and business processes.•Created reporting tools and provided analysis for a medium-sized home goods retailer (annual revenue of $87M; catalog, website and 25 retail outlets) to improve decision making across supply chain, merchandising, and marketing functions. Reduced report creation time by up to 90%. Provided recommendations to improve catalog response rates and drive affinity purchases. Redefined the trade areas of 25 retail store locations to maximize ROI of promotional and direct marketing strategies.•Provided guidance to one partner in the firm; managed client relationships, proposals and billing.
