As the raw materials purchaser in an aluminium refinery based in Malaysia. I was responsible for:• Procured up to 2,000mt of scrap aluminium (Tense, Taint/Tabor, Troma etc) and Silicon metal (spec. 441, 553) on a monthly basis through established external contacts. • Negotiated a $30,000 cost saving on a batch of silicon metal from China.• Monitored market trends and aluminium prices and developed regular reports for senior management.• Resolved operations inefficiency issues by proposing an alternative cargo loading arrangement to our supplier. • Managed commercial contracts and ensured the timely processing of purchase orders & invoices to minimize company risk exposures. • Planned cargo collection itineraries and internally coordinated the preparation of clearance documents and resolution of logistical complications.• Quality checking of procured materials in collaboration with operations department and negotiated settlement claims with suppliers for out-of-specification cases.
