After building dozens of sites with ASP and HTML, I have really settled into using WordPress for many projects. I honestly believe that the WordPress Plugins Repository and Themes Repository are more exciting than the Google Play Store and the Apple Store.I know that not EVERY website needs to use WordPress, but I know about 500 other Php applications and regularly play with Drupal and Joomla. I love trying to learn new things. I use a few different hosted Virtual Private Servers to host websites for a couple of clients, and about a dozen of my own websites. I want to keep growing my infrastructure because I am always discovering new and exciting things at http://reddit.com/r/selfhosted. I really believe that companies, and people should own their own code, their own infrastructure so that they can customize it as they please. For example, right now, I use SQL Server Express to connect mySQL in a few different hosted environments and I produce pretty SQL Server Reporting Services reports against mySQL data. Nobody intended SQL Server Express to connect to external databases for Reporting Services, but it is possible. I've done it in production before also. To be honest, my SECOND favorite Website Builder is a bit obscure, it is called Odoo. Odoo used to be called OpenERP, and the only thing I don't like about it is that the premium version just seems a bit too expensive. I would rather use PostgreSQL than mySql any day of the week, I'm a database guy and writing Stored Procedures and using PostgreSQL is just a FANTASTIC database. And on the programming side, I prefer the Python development of Odoo to the Php development of WordPress. Maybe someday, Odoo will have 60,000 different themes to choose from.
