I think of myself as a Marketing Engineer as I have spent my career split between both roles. Having earned an Automation degree from Purdue, I am driven to discover ways to improve upon the status quo. That means partnering with clients to improve Search Engine Optimization (SEO), as well as other Digital Marketing opportunities. I go beyond the technical and look at user experience, the customer journey, as well as other marketing sources. Aligning all aspects of Digital Marketing is the best way to serve your Audience, and drive Conversions. In my free time I travel when I can, discover new places, cook, and brew / roast my own coffee. My high level of curiosity leads to many hobbies and I do all that I can to learn more. I research by reading, watching YouTube, and eventually trying my hand at something. This has led to raising a sourdough starter, starting a photography business, and modifying a popcorn popper to accurately roast coffee. The desire to work with my hands allows me to be creative but also analytical. This is extremely useful when reviewing a website, a landing page, or creative for UX and or CRO improvement. My wide range of interests, and background, helps me connect with people. I love working with a highly skilled team, but also do well on my own. I interact well with internal resources, C-Suite level employees, and company owners. I enjoy a challenge, breaking it down, and working towards its completion. I am rewarded by doing excellent work, but tend to expect the same from my peers. Myers-Briggs categorizes me as a INTJ, or Architect, personality. My DiSC profile says the same as I am considered a CD. This simply means that I am focused on fully understanding a situation, making an educated decision, building a structure, and delivering the best work possible, while elevating those around me. If you made it this far, thanks for being so interested. I am open to building relationships on here, IG, Facebook, etc.

Not all Digital Marketing is as quick as setting a few target keywords and a daily budget. Efforts like SEO are more of a long-term investment requiring diligence and attention to detail. Longplay Consulting offers SEO, CRO, and Analytics services to businesses looking to better align to the needs of their customers.

My previous manager at Bastian had taken a role at FoundSM and requested I come and join his team. Our goal was to grow the Search Engine Optimization service in this traditional Paid Search agency. We started with nothing but a handful of clients and our own curiosity. I quickly hit the ground running applying both technical SEO as well as User Experience recommendations based on conversion rate optimization techniques, analytical data, and raw gut feeling when needed. I now work on a wide range of projects centered around Search Engine Optimization but also all things web. We have created or optimized websites for B2C ecommerce, Higher Education, Healthcare, and local services. I have partnered with many Indianapolis agencies to extend their SEO and or Analytics offerings to their existing client base as well. I find these partnerships very rewarding as I get to share my knowledge while learning about how other agencies tackle internal workflows and client management. I also enjoy interacting directly with clients, helping develop SEO strategies around their industry, performing pre-site launch audits, or improving technical SEO on existing sites. What I love most about this role is that I have the pleasure of working with a really talented group of people. Everyone at FoundSM is highly dedicated and performs above and beyond. However, I have pulled together a tight team that can tackle complex Google Analytics implementations, website redesigns and launches, as well as providing high level SEO strategy that goes beyond keywords and links. We each have our unique talents and I encourage open communication, thought leadership, and ownership in their respective areas. While I'm not a direct manager, the team looks to me for guidance on projects and in professional development, which I find to be my best achievement.
I hired in as a Design Engineer for the Actuators Group but transitioned quickly a special projects group. Our project was to develop rules based models to drive product design automation. These models were created using engineering data and formulating rules to determine which components to use within a Bill Of Material. A customer would use a simple interface of drop-down options, creating a valid part number, BOM, 3D / 2D files, and a Sale Price. This tool is part of a larger project that will directly affect day-to-day engineering tasks. For the last year of my employment at SMC, I managed and performed quality control on these efforts across multiple engineering groups and 14 design engineers. During this time, I was appointed as the PLM Administrator, using Infor PLM. I assisted in the formulation of security models, workgroups, data workflows, search strategies, engineering change control, as well as development of future engineering processes. Our end goal was to fully integrate Tacton with Solidworks which would create BOM and design assets to be stored and controlled in PLM. PLM would integrate with the ERP production system, and finally with the distribution WMS.
I created Focused Foundations to offer Real Estate photography, virtual tours, and website design to agents in Central Indiana. Having a few friends in real estate, and having just bought my first home, I knew the importance of this information. I had the talent and equipment to do the work and my goal was to offer the best quality and service for a fair price. My photos were well lite, properly composed, and dynamic when possible to add a level of interest. My 360 tours were a labor of love with full 360x180 tours taking up to 280 photos to create a flawless experience. My sites were developed from scratch using clean code, optimized images, and Local SEO methods.Due to the housing market crash, several of my clients moved on to other ventures or started taking their own photos. Regardless of the length of operations, I was able to run a successful service. Each month brought more repeat clients and some new. I was purely word of mouth but I feel I could have done more if I had made a stronger effort to grow beyond my existing base. My workload got to a point where I developed image processing workflows that automated image import, basic color correction, and file size output. A standardized website theme with javascript based gallery creator was in the works to keep up with demand as well.
I was responsible for the creation and placement of all the multimedia content found on the www.bastiansolutions.com website, specifically the e-commerce store. To accomplish this, I used a wide range of tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Flash, and Premiere. Design was a large part of this effort as I created and implemented design elements, images, video, and web pages. All creative had to match our design standards as well as perform well on the web. My existing photography and video skills were enhanced during this time. 3D product models were also part of the media we provided. To handle the volume of models needed, I managed a team of design engineers located in Bangalore, India. Once approved, I would apply engineering constraints so that customers could create their own configured product. To better this process, I became a Solidworks Certified Professional. This position was my first exposure to HTML, CSS, and SQL database development, providing me the basics of solid web design, content creation, and SEO best practices.
I was mainly resposible for HMI development and implementation. I also created and updated Electrical drawings in AutoCAD. One of the goals that I pursued during my time in this position was to become cross trained in Robotic programming and received advanced training with ABB S4 robotic systems. I also completed training from Rockwell Automation in RS View 32, Autodesk 3D Studio Max for HMI development, and VLC programming from Phoenix Contact.
Primarily responsible for creating solid models in Solidworks for extraction of NC code for various types of CNC machinery. Developed Routing Cards, Tooling Cards, and Manufacturing Prints on a daily basis. Internship geared toward work-cell improvements, part modeling, and some tooling design.
For two summers, I was responsible for the daily activities within several corn and soybean test plots at the Tipton facility as well as plots in northern and southern Indiana. I charted and collected data during the growth stages for each hybrid. I applied different types of chemical treatments to different hybrids and noted differences in growth or resistance to pests / disease versus the untreated hybrids. I obtained a Pesticide License during this time from Purdue University. I reported directly to Richard (Dick) Johnson.
