About Aaron Lening Aviles

I am a UC San Diego student studying Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Robotics / Controls and a minor in Design. I am the founder of PERRYBOTICS, a non-profit dedicated to cultivate a passion for Engineering in SoCal communities through competitive robotics.I am undergraduate researcher at the MURO (Multi-Agent-Robotics) lab where I am working on dynamic collision avoidance for ground mobile robots.In addition I am currently working on a 2 motor differential wrist for Yonder Dynamics upcoming 6-axis robot arm.

I have end to end designed over 10 mobile robots utilizing 2D geometry to calculate trajectories and structural optimization, creating 3D assemblies of iterative designs on Onshape to generate parts list, and engineering drawings. Annually I created detailed engineering documentation explaining design process from ground up over 200+ pages. I designed novel pneumatic transmission, custom fixtures, gear trains & boxes, metal extrusion & plates, manufactured through additive & subtractive processes. Developed odometry algorithm control systems to achieve automated, repeatable, and precise motion profiles for drive base, integrating encoder values and IMU gyroscopes for drive train PID.

    As an Education Mentor for Robotics at Downey Unified School District, I collaborated with Career Technical Education teachers and lead a ground of 4-5 mentors to create a 5 week summer camp to assist middle school Robotics teams' success. I lectured and mentored a cohort of 54 middle schoolers from two schools that comprised over 10 teams in 5 week sessions. Our curriculum incorporated principles of classical physics, electronics, computer aided design(Onshape), and programming in C++.
