About Aaron Leclair
In my nearly 20 years in engineering and product development, I’ve had the fortune of working in a number of industries, across multiple disciplines and for Fortune 100 and Start-ups alike. Throughout those experiences, the simple truth I’ve encountered time and again is that scaling product and engineering teams is incredibly hard and that most companies struggle to achieve it. The reasons why vary, but the end result is that there exists a wide gap between ‘hustle-engineering’ and true scale. In fact, many companies never achieve this level of scale and settle for perpetually misaligned, burnt-out and ineffective engineering teams.During this time, I have also found my calling in helping companies navigate and bridge this difficult gap and achieve new levels of scale on the other side. I am fascinated by the complex interaction between technology, the business needs and the human dynamics of the organization as it rapidly evolves. I’m as passionate about process, team development and alignment as I am architecture, product quality and infrastructure. As a technologist, I love focusing on ‘how’ the products and services of a business are built, delivered and supported. The key aspects of scale are often not about the technology or the talent of engineers, but almost always the lack of tools, process and alignment required for them to achieve the objectives. This is where I thrive.As a leader, autonomy and accountability rule the day! I believe in teams that are supported, engaged and empowered to excel. Engineering scale does not come from large teams or ‘10x engineers’ on the payroll. True scale comes from establishing deep alignment between product development and the business through building tailored processes directed at those objectives.
