Built and Sustained a National School Network. Supported the development of new charter schools in New York City, San Diego, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Minneapolis. Worked with authorizers and state charter support organizations, local elected officials, district school boards, parents and community leaders; developed initial and renewal charter applications for authorizers; developed multiyear school budgets. Participated in the hiring of Heads of Schools and preparations for charter renewals.Leadership Development and Network Formation. Oversaw planning and development of new charter school sites. Oversight of academic programs and accountability of 54 charter schools that were authorized by New York City Department of Education (DOE).Supervised the renewal process of Chancellor-Authorized charter schools. Developed a coherent system of school evaluation incorporating both DOE accountability metrics as well as New York State Education Department (SED) accountability requirements. Led renewal teams in data analysis, renewal visit preparation and constructed format for renewal reports. Approved all reports that were submitted to school and SED.Coordinated SED school monitoring efforts, ensured that all Chancellor-authorized schools complied with SED requests for information and compliance orders. Supervised corrective action plans for schools placed on probation.Developed systems and structures for DOE divisions support for charter schools. Scope of work included developing pathway for NYC charter schools to access DOE data systems, facilitate the transfers of underserved students, and coordinate efforts of the Committee on Special Education to ensure seamless support for special education students in charter schools.Worked with new school applicants to ensure that applications for new charter schools comply with city and state accountability requirements.
