Tiffin Mayor Aaron D. Montz was first elected in November 2011 having just turned 26 years old. Montz’s immense love for the community and his dedication towards redevelopment of the business sector prompted his desire to lead his hometown through one of the most difficult times facing Tiffin since the Great Depression.Mayor Montz is a 2004 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and a 2008 graduate of Heidelberg University (BA) where he studied History and Political Science. He believes the schools and the two universities located within Tiffin are an important developmental aspect of the community.In 2007, Montz - age 22, was elected to Tiffin City Council to represent the City’s 2nd Ward. During his term as 2nd Ward Councilman he chaired the Streets, Sidewalks, and Sewers Committee as well as the Recreation and Public Properties Committee. Montz also served on the Finance Committee where he was an active voice in fiscal responsibility and advocate against wasteful spending.Montz has been heavily involved in regional and state government, being elected the President of the Seneca Regional Planning Commission (SRPC) in 2012 and President of the North Central Ohio Regional Council of Governments (NCORCOG) that same year. Governor John Kasich appointed Mayor Montz to the State of Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission in 2013 as the lone Mayoral representative. In 2014, Aaron was also elected President of the Northwest Ohio Mayors and Managers Association (NOMMA) for a two year term, to which he was re-elected in March of 2016 for another two year term. Montz assisted with the creation of the Seneca County Young Professionals, serving as the organizations first President in 2015.In the Fall of 2015, Mayor Aaron D. Montz was re-elected with 85% of the vote, an all-time record for a Tiffin Mayoral candidate facing an opponent. In fact, no other Mayoral candidate in the State of Ohio [with a challenger] received a higher margin of victory than Montz in 2015.
