After realising that college wasn't quite what I needed, I left after one year of study and began exploring apprenticeships. This decision served me well, leading to a position at Royal London on the service desk. I started to grow professionally, gaining insight into business operations and the importance of collaboration to achieve shared objectives. Working in the technology sector suits me, as it's also a passion outside of my professional life.I then progressed to the role of Infrastructure System Administrator (2nd Line Wintel Support), where I honed my soft skills and advanced technically. With the support of colleagues, mentors, and exceptional leadership, I was able to seize numerous opportunities in my workspace, learning and evolving as an individual.After dedicating myself to the role of Infrastructure System Administrator, I felt the need for a new challenge. I began to reflect on my professional aspirations and personal goals. Inspired by podcasts and eBooks, I set my sights on completing a marathon before my 21st birthday. However, when COVID restrictions meant I couldn't participate in the Manchester marathon, I decided to make the most of my training. I embarked on my own "Muggeridge Marathon" and, over 20 hours, managed to run 30 miles. This experience gave me a renewed sense of purpose and prompted me to delve deeper into my professional aspirations.Fortune and timing were on my side. I was incredibly lucky to be presented with an opportunity in the Cyber Security sector at just the right moment. I joined the Cyber Incident Response team on a 12-month secondment and immersed myself in every facet of the role. I hit the ground running (perhaps thanks to all that marathon training) and quickly adapted to this new environment, impressing the right people. This led to a permanent position in Cyber Security Support. Drawing on my years of experience in infrastructure and a comprehensive understanding of the estate's landscape, I continue to bring my enthusiastic, hungry, and driven approach to work.After the COVID restrictions were lifted, I did complete an official marathon – in fact, I completed two in a week. But that's a story for another day...
