- Lead and direct the health, safety, assurance and environment activity for Network Rail Telecoms Services.- Manage the overall strategic health and safety direction to enable the delivery of business plans, providing leadership for all internal departments through directly managing the S&SD support team.- Act as the focal point for expert advice on health and safety, reviewing and implementing changes to the management system to assure compliance with industry and regulatory standards. - Direct the construction management team in the delivery of Construction Design and Management (CDM) and environmental duties, advising on practical guidance with a focus on collaborative working with our Principal Contractor suppliers. - As the Dedicated Competent Person (DCP) for all Telecoms Services accident and incident investigations, I am the authorised reviewer and signatory for Level 1 and 2 reports, preparing for submission to Regional or National Panels. - Authorise the publication of final audits and inspections, reviewing findings to be used for lessons learnt or continual improvement briefings. - Provide safety coaching and mentoring, including the introduction of cultural and behavioural programmes. - Review the Period (four weekly) safety key performance indicators to assess any changes or trends against the overall business unit risk profile, identifying if a risk review or assessment is needed to avoid a potential accident or incident.

- Provided professional health and safety advice and support across the Telecoms function, facilitating compliance with the management system and legal, industry and company standards. - Worked closely with project construction, civil engineering and telecoms teams to determine practical and deliverable measures to improve health and safety performance within projects and compliance to CDM Regulations. - Led regular meetings with the contracting organisations to share and communicate best practices and lessons learnt. - Supported the project teams in the investigations of accidents and incidents, acting as the lead investigator and ‘Fair Culture’ representative, implementing Root Cause Analysis, actions and recommendations. - Undertook planned and unannounced site inspections on internal and external (contractor) delivery teams, advising on immediate or long-term actions for issues identified, both practical and administrative.

- Responsible for the development and implementation of the Telecoms assurance plan, organising planned audits and reviews of high-risk projects / activities delivered by internal and external (contractor) stakeholders. - Produced audit and review reports for senior management meetings, highlighting areas of assurance safety concern or positive lessons learnt from continual improvement practices. - Managed the assurance team tasked with collating the safety and environmental KPIs for all Principal Contractors, producing periodic statistics used for executive reporting. - Implemented the ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System into the Project Delivery and Field Services departments, resulting in increased programme portfolio efficiencies.

- Required to undertake risk-based inspections on programme sites and activities across the UK, supporting internal and external (contractors) stakeholders regarding health, safety, assurance and environmental matters, including compliance to CDM Regulations. - Designated a two-year mentorship with a senior H&S Manager, to develop safety competencies and learn how construction work is delivered on the railway infrastructure. - Supported the Health and Safety Manager with the accident and incident investigation process, providing site-based evidence and relevant documentation. - Monitored the progress of Principal and supply chain contractors in relation to safety training and competencies, as mandated to be able to work on the railway infrastructure.

- The FTN/GSM-R Programme was part of a nationwide railway enhancements scheme, focussing on building a new cable (fixed telecoms) and mobile (GSM-R) telecoms network for Signallers and Train Drivers. - Collated internal and external quality assurance data and analysed for trends, which were recorded and disseminated to key programme personnel on a periodic basis. - Monitored Principal and supply chain contractors’ adherence to railway and industry standards. - Undertook internal and external (contractor) audits and reviews, as per the instruction of the Assurance Manager.

My last position was: - Training & Quality Manager(September 2006 – May 2009)- Responsible for the management of the Rail Labour supply desk, assuring that all temporary candidates’ competencies, medicals and D&A (drug & alcohol) tests were valid to be able to work on the railway infrastructure.- Provided a portfolio of training (IT, Soft Skills, role specific, competency based) to the company personnel, consisting of Recruitment Consultants, Line Managers and administrative staff.
