Pivotech designs and manufactures shower screen and wardrobe systems for the Australian residential housing market. My role is to work with an experience team to lead the design, engineering and evolution of shower screens and modular wardrobe door systems to suit ever-evolving market expectations and construction industry regulations.

I joined Aluminium Industries subsidiary company Comtruk, after being head-hunted to lead the design of an all-new product offering in the after-market automotive space and breath new life into an aging brand. Together with a team of engineers I assembled to undertake a clean sheet design, we were able to design, develop, and validate a high unit value ($5-10k) product and substantiate sales potential to OE vehicle manufacturers (Toyota, Mercedes, Ford, etc) in Australia, Europe and the US, with a projected revenue potential in the 10's of millions (p.a). In 2 years our concept evolved into a product comprising over 500 bespoke components, designed and validated in-house, with a newly established and extensive supply chain network both here and abroad. Future proofing our brand, our flexible architecture will enable rapid expansion of both our product portfolio and manufacturing footprint globally.

I joined Outerspace as a Lead Design Engineer working in the consumer product development space. Within two years of joining I was HR responsible for a team of five, assisting the sales efforts, all whilst maintaining my CAD proficiency when required to help-out when needed on some projects. With a very dynamic environment, my role involved managing numerous small to medium scale projects simultaneously, all at various stages of completion. Projects included development of products for the medical, telecommunications, water, roads, lifestyle and fitness, agriculture and transport industries.Regular activities included: brainstorming "out of the box" concepts, managing designers and engineers, designing, prototyping, testing and outsourcing manufacturing. No two days were ever the same at Outerspace. Aside from the usual engineering activities, my role also involved establishing new client relationships through business development. Liaising with potential clients to understand their product vision, needs and goals, to formulating fully costed development proposals to deliver a saleable product.

Over 8 years, the projects I managed delivered complex, high value systems within passenger vehicles: the Holden Commodore (last Australian designed & manufactured vehicle), Chevrolet Camaro (for US market) and Chevrolet vehicles sold in China.Role responsibilities:- Detailed-design of high volume and high value products to stringent specifications and international regulations.- Oversight and direction to procurement teams. - Roll out to Manufacturing & Execution teams. - Project management within a rigid framework of milestones, facilitated by regular gate reviews.- Risk assessments and testing of interior trim components for General Motors vehicles. Project example: the dashboard is assembly of 30+ precision components produced in high volume (60,000 units per annum). The design must pass stringent regulations for safety and performance, be aesthetically pleasing, easy to manufacture and meet cost targets. From project scoping to compiling and selling a business case, through to people management, risk mitigation and interdepartmental liaison within a large cross functional matrix I delivered the project on time, exceeding quality targets and within cost.- MANAGE: • Workflow to CAD Design team, including CAD release & change management. • Manufacturing suppliers (weekly meetings with minutes). • Workflow to outsourced CAD-services suppliers. • Liaise internally with cross functional departments (e.g. marketing, purchasing, manufacturing) • Project progression through program gates to meet key milestones. • Bill of Materials (BOMs) - MEET METRICS for: • Cost & Quality targets • On time delivery of requirements for program gates • Timely issue resolution

This job involved the development and releasing of interior systems for the Ford Territory Turbo vehicle. I.e. Development from confirmation prototype to production. Roles & Responsibilities:• Manage suppliers.• Run design team meetings.• Support prototype builds & work with core engineering towards start of production.• Track supplier progress through systems.• Manage Design Validation (DV) process and write reports.• Track issues & manage changes through Ford systems.

Broadly, this job involved the design & development of the interior of a Chinese GM vehicle. I.e. From styling concept to manufacturing.Roles & Responsibilities:• Live in China for 6 months, spend 3 months in Australia.• Provide liaison between China & Australian operations during the joint development of a Chinese vehicle.• Manage numerous subordinate employees.• Run live web-meetings between China & Australia.• Design and development of parts of the interior.• Develop the skills of Chinese engineers and other personnel in key areas.• Organise & run regular meetings with the customer.• Meet deadlines and track timing.• Liaise with other component suppliers to resolve issues with conflicting requirements. Key Competencies:• Communications skills; both in meetings with the customer and whilst training and motivating employees.• Understanding of Chinese culture & effective Sino-Western business practices.• Aptitude for engineering development of new designs.• Intimate knowledge of vehicle interior design & plastic moulding.Achievements:• Development of new competent design department through mentorship & training.• 100% tooling kick-off on time.

Primary involvement was as an integrator between Holden Engineers and Stylists on VE/WM Commodore vehicles. Tasks included:• Carrying out CAD packaging studies.• Tooling checks to assist the development of CAD A-class surfaces.• Liaison with Holden engineers & Holden designers.• Presentation to the customer. Key competencies included:• Knowledge in the areas of interior component design.• Understanding of safety regulations, ADR, ECE, etc.• Tooling for injection-moulded parts, and familiarity with Unigraphics CAD package.• Presentation skills

Position involved liaising with Holden Design & Engineering personnel & working with a team of CAD designers to develop the door trim design for future Holden vehicles. Duties included management and direct involvement in the design and manufacturing of production intent door trims for safety compliance testing.Roles & Responsibilities included:• Presentations in meetings.• Scheduling & management of project time lines.• Management of a team of 6 CAD personnel.• Development of concepts & designs.

Position involved working with a Tier 2 consulting service supplier (WorleyParsons) on virtual Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Holden vehicle components to assess performance in the areas of:• Noise & Vibration Harshness• Squeak and Rattle• Durability and high-temperature dimensional stability. Roles & Responsibilities:• Management of external consulting Supplier.• Presentations to the customer (Holden).• Scheduling & management of project time lines.

Manufacturing engineering position associated with the production of the BA Falcon bumper bars and exterior mouldings. Duties were predominantly associated with painting and moulding facilities, including involvement in the PPAP commissioning process and also the ramp-up of manufacturing facilities for production.

Product & Test engineering position in the Driveline Engineering Department – duties included design and development of components within the driveline of the BA Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo, XR8 & GT. Further product engineering duties included integral involvement in a number of aerodynamic refinement programs for Ford vehicles both here in Australia and abroad.

Paid trainee engineering work in the Chassis Engineering Department – duties included team and individual project work, product development and customer support work.Project work included:• Involvement in suspension development on AU model Ford vehicles.• Development of a rudimentary computer based suspension simulation program for the purpose finetuning vehicle handling. • Development of a four-wheel drive vehicle to be produced in Japan• Communication with Ford employees in Japan & Thailand.
