For as long as I have been alive, my life has revolved around sports. From going to games with my Dad, watching at home on TV, and competing myself, sports was always something I craved being around. As an athlete, I always wanted to be the best and I had the work ethic to match. However, it turns out being 5’5’’ and 120 pounds soaking wet as a high school senior makes it challenging to compete at the next level! Luckily, I discovered that a pursuing a career in sports was a possibility which led me to studying Sport Management at the University of Connecticut. My goal while at UConn was to gain as much experience as I could so that when I was applying for roles, I was not just another applicant that would say “I’ll do anything to work in sports.” I wanted to identify which areas of the industry I was passionate about and which areas of the industry did not interest me as much. Through this discovery process, I was able to identify that sport sales was the career path I wanted to chase. I gravitated towards sales due to the similarities between being an elite athlete and a successful salesperson such as the competitive team environment, coaching/training, and the ability to control what you can control. I spent the first 5 years of my professional career working for the New York Mets learning from some of the best leaders in the business. In my tenure, I was able to consistently surpass sales goals and expectations while also being a leader on the floor as a member of the Management-In-Training Program. This program gave me a peak behind the curtain of what it takes to be a successful Inside Sales Manager by teaching me how to be a leader of people, process, development, and strategy.When it became time for me to seek out my first leadership role, aligning myself with the right people and organization was of the upmost importance. I am confident that I found that here with Ilitch Sports and Entertainment.
