I graduated in 2016 with a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Biotechnology and Bioengineering from the University of Kent. I was involved in a number of research projects during my time in academia. One involved the construction of plasmids for expression of human mutant and WT alpha-synuclein in E. coli as a means to analyse amyloid branching patterns by AFM, with implications in the prognosis of Parkinson's disease. Another was experimenting with transient genetic modification and gene regulation in CHO cells for improved biotherapeutic production via the cellular secretory pathway. My professional career began at Eurofins PSS as an insourced contractor for a large client company, working primarily on dissolution method development and quickly generating data to meet the needs of the client. I later joined Pfizer in Analytical Research and Development in Sandwich. I further developed my expertise in dissolution testing, including the development and validation of analytical methods, and had a leading role in continuous improvement, enhancing the organisational and operational efficiency of the dissolution group. Other routine responsibilities included system ownership and consulting with project teams to discuss their requirements, and assist them from a regulatory perspective. As a result of organisational restructuring, my time at Pfizer came to an end in early 2024 however I had gained valuable knowledge and experience during my short time there, as well as grew my professional network.By the second quarter of 2024, I along with four other brilliant scientists co-founded Biowaived Ltd. We are a CRO offering services and consultancy in dissolution and biopharmaceutics to clients, assisting with understanding of their drug product performance and formulation development. In my role as Chief Compliance Officer, I am dedicated to positioning Biowaived as a trustworthy entity that instils confidence in our clients and generates quality data.
