I led One Common Unity's (OCU) operations, programs, development, marketing, communications and human resources, supervising a team of 35 staff members.One Common Unity breaks cycles of violence and builds healthy compassionate communities through the transformative power of music, the arts, and peace education. In 2000, following a string of school shootings in Washington, DC, a group of educators and artists came together to catalyze a community-wide shift away from violence and poverty. Today, OCU offers a three-tiered continuum of support to 2,500 students and their families in DC schools each year, providing mental health prevention, early intervention, and treatment services. In our 22-year history, OCU has impacted more than 35,000 youth and their families; worked in 52 schools throughout the DC region; produced five full-length youth music albums; and hosted 85 concerts and community art showcases. Our programs skillfully blend art, music, and culture with social-emotional learning (SEL) activities, mental health services, and best practices of youth development to meet the needs of DC’s marginalized youth.

Designed and implemented leadership development, community building, dialogue, creative expression, and other programs for high school students from conflict regions at the Seeds of Peace Int’l Camp in Maine and in Israel and Palestine. Facilitated a two-week program for educators and conflict resolution practitioners in August 2012.
