Working with the Environment Agency and WRAP on the implementation of Simpler Recycling policy in England.

Internal promotion within the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles.I developed policy for the £381 million Local EV Infrastructure Fund, and specifically on the Capability Fund. My role involved working with local authorities and deliver the resource funding to enable them to have the capacity and capability to deploy local charging infrastructure.I also worked closely with Cenex to develop the EV Infrastructure Training Course to support new entrants to the sector to upskill on the technical and delivery aspects of EV infrastructure deployment.

My primary role was to develop and support policy focused on the expansion of the electric vehicle infrastructure network. This included publication of Taking Charge: The EV Infrastructure Strategy. This is a key component for the successful transition from conventional fossil-fuel vehicles, and will play a fundamental role in reaching the target of net-zero emissions by 2050.

As a Sustainability Consultant, I now deliver BREEAM for a range of clients from pre-planning stage through to design and post-construction assessment. As a qualified BREEAM (NC) Assessor, I am heavily involved in ensuring that the client can achieve the required BREEAM rating, and endeavor to maximise the available credits in the most cost-effective way. My projects range in their scope and development type, from shell-only retail and office developments, to fully-fit hotels and sheltered accommodation. Each project requires a tailored approach, with an emphasis on client-engagement to develop a strategy which is best suited to their organisation.

As a Graduate Consultant, I was responsible for delivering SAP assessments for leading house-builders across the country. In addition, I progressed onto assisting the delivery of BREEAM assessments for retail and multi-residential units.

Alongside a small team of fellow students, I was a founding member of the ongoing food co-operative at Exeter University (Penryn campus). This project launched in June 2016, following a successful funding bid for NUS Student Eats, in partnership with Sustain. I was heavily involved in the operation and development of this scheme, which continues to provide local, affordable and sustainable produce to the student community.

My role within the Beach Clean Committee involved the organisation of events throughout the year, which enabled students to take-part in beach cleans across Cornwall. Our society provided an opportunity for students concerned about plastic pollution to improve our coastline for marine wildlife and people alike.During my time in the committee, I also coordinated a 'Zero Waste Workshop' which invited speakers including Earth.Food.Love (one of the first zero-waste shops in the UK), the Marine Conservation Society and other local groups to inspire students to take action in reducing their waste. This involved sourcing food from local sources which would have otherwise gone to waste.
