About Aaron Cassar
As a business entrepreneur I have had the opportunity to work across a broad area of industries in a number of countries. I have lived and run businesses in the Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Solomon Islands, UK and of course Australia. I have over twenty years of experience working in the financial technology industry specializing in emerging markets monetization, developing exchange platforms, property tech platform development, carbon trading. Over the years I have consulted a number of projects supporting property development and tokenisation/fractionalisation. This has now turned into my main focus as I see a huge opportunity in this area of supporting tokenisation of assets so that they can be made more accessible, investment ready and liquid. This was the first suppose to be the first properly regulated retail crowd funding investment for equity fund for world participation.I had appointed Ninety East Financial to assist with the setup, and administration of the fund. Fund was setup with a Protected Cell structure so that different start up investment projects within the VCI Fund could be setup and promoted via the issuing of placement of subscription shares starting from as low as $500 for first placement and then from $100 thereafter. Now from the funds collected 20% of funds were to be paid to VCI Manager Ltd out of which 15% was allocated to be used for payment to promoters and 5% for administration and other support costs. VCI Managers was setup to invest for a period of 2 to 5 years in seed, start-ups and early-stage companies. It is important to note that not only would VCI invest capital in the company but also hold a Board position and actively be involved in key management decisions. In short, VCI Fund was not just a financial investor but also a strategic and professional partner which entrepreneurs can turn to for sound judgments and advice.As part of this the key team selected actively participated in corporate advisory and business development of the new seed company, with a view to making it successful, profitable and possessed with tremendous value to be unlocked during IPO.Unfortunately Ninety East Financial made a very costly mistake in the setup stage of the fund that meant the existing FUND they used was not able to be reclassified as an open retail fund, as such VCI Fund had to be closed down completely.....
