I started what has become the largest social media program for a DMO in North Carolina, and among the top in the country. Today, I co-manage our channels with our agency of record out of necessity for the growth. I run a robust travel media program, working in concert with top influencers, writers and bloggers to experience the Outer Banks and promote our destination story. I develop storylines and pitch to editors and outlets, and provide close creative support to that end for their own enterprise pieces. Additionally, I create award-winning industry publications, and co-conceptualize tourism guides that have won awards and generated buzz. I work closely with the Executive Director on news media relations and crisis management, and the nature of my position at the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau has allowed me to work with household name celebrities and media powerhouses including Guy Fieri and The Food Network, Warner Bros., country artist Scotty McCreery's team, USA Today, Southern Living, New York Post, Coastal Living, Our State, etc. My photography appears in a lot of national medium, including earned and sponsored media. I film and edit TV broadcast and web videos for promotion.

I was a general assignment reporter beginning in July 2001 and covered news all across eastern North Carolina. I also was a "co-host" or feature reporter during our popular 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. morning program with a Today Show style format. As Outer Banks bureau chief, I covered hurricanes, environmental issues, economic stories, features and hard news. I also concurrently hosted a news program on Charter Communications CNN Local Edition cut-ins. I started out in production and worked my way up to videographer, then reporter, then bureau chief of the Outer Banks, NC. I have done nearly everything related to news reporting and my strengths lie in taking big issues and breaking them down in easy to understand bite-size pieces for the average at-home viewer. I have been recognized for my exceptional writing skills and video creativity. East Carolina gave me a great education, but this job taught me about how the world works.
