About Aaron Zajac, M.A.
You know, as a child, I never thought of being a therapist until the end of college! What I Want to Do I want to be a therapist in private practice who works with clients with disabilities, especially those with autism. I also want to work with clients who are active-duty military personnel, retired veterans, and military families. Why I Want to Do It I want to work with clients with disabilities, particularly autistic clients because I have the personal experience of autism, and that will help establish rapport and future growth. I want to help other autistic people know the values of success, happiness, and independence. I want to work with military families, active-duty military personnel, and veterans. As a child, I wanted to be a soldier like my father. I found a different way to serve. I want to serve the military community and give back to it by helping address mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and suicide. I grew up in a military family, so I have insight that would be helpful for building relationships. How I Plan on Doing It• I have recently gotten my Masters degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University (Summa Cum Laude), in which I learned about mental health disorders and treatments, neuropsychology, theories and techniques of counseling and psychotherapy, trauma in diverse populations, and grant-writing.• I also learned about research methods and techniques, in which I studied and researched topics including PTSD in veterans and topics about autism in adults as well.• I plan on further pursuing another Masters degree in Clinical Psychology or a doctorate.• I have 8 years of leadership experience, both from my time in Boy Scouts and in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M, in which I volunteered to help guide, train, advise, and mentor young men and women and help them develop into exceptional leaders in both the public and private sectors. • In my previous job, I learned about providing excellent customer service, which is a necessary skill in any field. Psychology is a business too. I went from cleaning tables to managing drawers of money of over $1000 dollars on a daily basis. I also learned about problem-solving, communication, and multi-tasking.My Call to ActionI would love the opportunity to discuss future endeavors with new professionals and I would appreciate any support that can be given. Feel free to connect with me at my cell phone number or my email address listed below. Thanks, and have a great day!Phone number: 301-300-0352E-mail address: aaron.zajac98@gmail.com
