During my time in the Marine Corps I was became acutely aware of the advantage that tech brought to theater and how those who maintained the cutting edge also maintained the proverbial high ground. A few years later as I transitioned to the civilian sector, I was struck by the vision seamless integration of technology into our personal lives and how it has redefined the way we communicate, learn, and entertain ourselves. It has become an integral part of our daily routines, empowering us to unlock new possibilities and navigate the world with greater ease. Is this always for the better? Perhaps, and perhaps not.It is the intersection of technology and our professional endeavors that truly excites me. The convergence of diverse tech domains, such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, and augmented reality, is reshaping industries and creating innovative solutions to address complex challenges. With these new advances come solutions to old problems while creating new challenges to solve that didn't exist prior. Witnessing this synergy inspires me to explore the untapped potential and discover new ways to drive positive change.In today's interconnected world, I firmly believe that embracing technology is no longer a choice but a necessity. Years ago as a business continuity and disaster recovery coordinator, I was not uncommon to meet with healthcare leaders who maintained the stance that, "we took care of patients before computers were around and we can continue to do it today." How times have changed in a few short years! Tech has the power to transcend borders, democratize access to knowledge and opportunities, and foster inclusive growth. Through the thoughtful and responsible application of new tech in personal and professional lives, we have the power to enrich and amplify human potential.More is not always better, seek incremental improvement over delayed perfection and dream BIG but keep the mission simple and do it well.     At Cardinal Health I was tasked with bringing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) live. This was part of an overarching project to update our ITIL based service model that needed to leverage technologies to provide end to end visibility for our IT landscape. A Configuration Management System (CMS) or enterprise level/consolidated CMDB is the core of an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based services implementation. Serving as the core of the "hub and spoke" ITIL processes, the CMS/CMDB is a living organism within Enterprise IT and can be used as the basis for all IT processes defined within ITIL and Project Management. During this time I was focused on configuration management and process improvement, and helped to lead data federation and integration between the IBM CCMDB/TADDM and other data management repositories across the enterprise. The CMDB was successfully implemented within Cardinal Health and continues to mature to this day as the foundation for our process management system ServiceNow.

    During my time as a Service Continuity Process Manager, I was asked to take over the Change Management process and to rebuild it according to the ITIL framework by leveraging the ServiceNow Change Management Application. I re-wrote the existing Change Management Policy and enacted new requirements to drive tool utilization and timely communication to the Change Advisory Board (CAB). During this time I developed a three tiered Change Management course with corporate development and launched the curriculum via our online learning management system (LMS). This tool helped communicate the process requirements to both internal process users and managers and included a module that was used externally to communicate our requirements and change windows to our vendor partners. I also successfully lobbied for inclusion of process adherence to the accountability section of annual reviews. The result of the implementation of this updated process and tool was the reduction in amount of interruptions in the production environment.

    I began my career at OhioHealth while attending The Ohio State University full time in pursuit of my degree in Computer Science and Engineering. As part of the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery team, I was focused on coordinating efforts with both technical and end user groups to adequate recovery plans and technologies were in place. OhioHealth was the first healthcare system in central Ohio to successfully split clustered systems, across 2 data centers via fiber channels. The result was the ability to run systems existing clustered systems, and architect new clustered systems that functioned without latency or loss of data in the event of an interruption. Our plans were constructed on a tiered model of Recovery Time Objectives that helped to drive process management throughout the organization. I learned a tremendous about the technologies, human relationships, a creative problem solving through these years at OhioHealth. Towards the end of my time at I was involved in a vendor selection process that resulted in a contract with ServiceNow for our process deployment. Using this tool we were able to customize our CMDB and leverage Configuration Item attributes to build an internal BCDR Application. Championing a “ground up” approach, all CMDB elements were in place prior to the traditional Business Continuity BIA being conducted. We ensured that the detailed work of CI relationships was complete and all systems were constructed in a way that adequately supported the Recovery Time Objectives that the business required.
