I joined Resolve to Save Lives, a non-profit founded by Dr Tom Frieden, President Obama’s CDC Director, to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. I led a small, cross-disciplinary team of product managers, designers, product operations experts, and solutions architects who have built a variety of tools designed to help public health jurisdictions speed up contact tracing. We also supported the Africa CDC and member nations in epidemic preparedness.

As the VP of Design Education and later VP of Content at InVision, I built a team that produced DesignBetter.com, a publication featuring books, podcasts, research, and interviews that help design teams adopt best practices. We produced 10 books that have been downloaded more than 400,000 times and influenced $3 million in ARR. I built a team of interdisciplinary thinkers to research, conceptualize, and prototype new features and products.

I built a team of designers, developers, and researchers to create new products. We conducted product and market research then built a prototype and a functioning product from our findings.

I built the UX team at MailChimp, which was comprised of three groups: Research, Design, and Front-End Development. I managed the team through many product releases and major redesigns. I established the customer research practice at MailChimp, which constantly informed the strategic growth of the product as it grew from a few thousand customers to millions world-wide. I worked with the CEO, COO, and lead engineer to define the product roadmap, then coordinated my team's efforts with the engineering team.In 2015 MailChimp won a Webby for our mobile app Snap (http://mailchimp.com/features/mailchimp-snap/). I conceptualized the product based on research my team and I had been conducting with retailers. Our Mobile team turned my concept into an elegant, fun to use app.

I was a core member of The Web Standards Project, and the former lead of the WaSP InterACT curriculum–an open curriculum that seeks to improve the quality of web education in high schools and colleges. This curriculum was designed and authored by top industry experts and veteran educators, and is being used by schools around the world.

Served as a co-founding member of the Open Web Education Alliance, an incubator working groupwithin the W3C established to define global standards for web technology education.

I taught a wide range of design and technology courses from introductory to advanced levels. Courses included Perceptual Interfacing, Interface Design, Dynamic Web Applications, History of Communication Media, and foundation web design courses.In 2004 I lead a 2 week study abroad program to Berlin, Helsinki, and Stockholm that introduced students to cutting edge mobile technologies at Nokia, Sony Ericsson and other companies and research institutions. In 2006 I lead a summer abroad program in Berlin on which I taught students about nonlinear-narrative and history of communication media with many excursions to the sites discussed in the courses. While at AiA, I also collaborated with my colleagues to develop the department curriculum. I developed a Course Management System called ClassBot that was used to deliver course material for all Interactive Media Design courses.

For 8 years I ran a one person design consultancy. As the sole proprietor I handled all planning, designing, and development of web projects.
