I enjoy content creation, working with others, and advocacy. I am an artist -- I perform and write across platforms as a musician, stand-up comic, and freelance journalist. I enjoy working with new writers, helping them enact their vision -- I did so through my work at Simpson Street Free Press, mentoring young journalists one-on-one and designing curriculum; working with new writers on zine content for Brown Girl Lifted and Yoni Ki Baat; and through consulting work I do on personal statements and resumes. I am also a producer -- a skill that comes in handy as a local musician. My most recent production work has been in radio and in film.

Teaching ArtistOctavia Project Jun 2018 - Aug 2019Brooklyn, New YorkI worked as a teaching artist, supporting the programming of the Octavia Project. I also designed and executed weekly writing workshops with the students. The Octavia Project uses the creative power of speculative fiction to imagine new worlds. Our inspiration and namesake is Octavia E. Butler, who broke barriers in the traditionally white men’s world of science fiction to become an award-winning and internationally recognized author. Drawing inspiration from her practice which explores themes of racial, gender, and environmental justice, our Brooklyn teens participate in rich, interdisciplinary workshops that encourage critical thinking and build confidence by blending creative writing, art, science, and technology. Our free Summer Institute, which has run annually for the past five years, comprises of young women, trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and questioning youth aged 14-18.
