A people-oriented person with an emphasis on service through technology. This is one of the many definitions of the study of Management Information Systems, however, this same definition does well to describe my professional career as of now. I chose to study Management Information Systems from San Diego State University as it combines people, technology, organizations, and the relationships among them. In technical terms, I am a result-driven analyst with expertise in project implementation, relational database concepts, technology integration, and network troubleshooting. Every opportunity I have been presented with only serves to strengthen my passion for technology. I have worked as a Network Technician and a Junior IT Project Manager which has led to my current position as a Business Technology Analyst. Throughout my varying technical career, I have been exposed to a range of resilient software and hardware that serve to enhance enterprise-wide operations. With this constant exposure, I have retained highly analytical skills, research capabilities, out-of-the-box problem-solving techniques, and the ability to quickly adapt to and consult on growing technical requirements. As my technical career enhanced my teachable and measurable abilities, I learned that teamwork, communication, leadership, and a positive attitude can enhance self-empowerment and authenticity within any organization. Being in a leadership position at San Diego State University allowed me to establish a foundation for a variety of soft skills that would guide me through my career. I learned of delegation, decision making, mentoring, and the key importance of building relationships as President of the Association of the Information Technology Professionals, SDSU Chapter. I learned the art of communication, the creativity behind presentations, and the effect of conflict management to ultimate resolution through the hindering challenges that came throughout the various projects as a Network Technician or an IT Project Manager and even as a Business Technology Analyst. Although these skills may appear to be ordinary, I believe their sustenance is essential to an individual’s and an organization’s success.
