•Reduced die change-over time from 42 minutes to 20 minutes (53%). Implemented a new advanced clamping technique along with various fool-proof mechanisms and preparing a layout plan which led to 50% increase in productivity. •Implemented a project in a team of two for reduction in the rework done on the sheet metal components being manufactured for various national and international OEMs. Focused on poor dies and tools maintenance, handling customer complaints and lack of motivation. The complete analysis took around a month and is under implementation.•Studied and proposed a new layout for an axle welding assembly line which doubled the productions to 1550 pieces per month in a 4-day individual workout. Also, reduced the rework being done, thus improving the quality.•Oversaw, learnt and used various production planning and management control systems like kaizen, pokayoke, one-piece flow, mudi-muri-mura, pull-system, under the guidance of the production and quality managers.
