I’m a 6th year history major at the University of Jyväskylä. The main focus of my studies is pedagogy, general history, cultural heritage and the built environment - just finished working on my masters thesis on tuberculosis and Paimio Sanatorium designed by the modernist architects Aino and Alvar Aalto. I started my journey with the Aaltos in Paimio sanatorium in 2022 - I hosted guided tours and worked in customer service there for the summer. Next summer in 2023, I got the chance to be able to host tours in Jyväskylä's Muuratsalo at the Aalto Experimental house. During this time, the Aalto2 museum center also opened its doors and I have been working for the museum ever since doing guided tours on all our exhibitions - these range from the history of hip hop, to the history of the Central-Finland region, all the way to the architecture of the Aaltos.Since today, I have hosted tours in many of the most prestigious Aalto sites in Jyväskylä region - I have hosted guided tours at the Jyväskylä University Campus and Seminar Hill area designed by Aalto's office in the 1950's, continued with the work at the Experimental house in Muuratsalo in the summer of 2024 and guided groups around Muurame church, Jyväskylä workers club and so on.It has been very motivating to combine the research skills from my history studies and the pedagogical skills from my teachers training on tours at different sites.
