At TiVo I was responsible for many serveral project related to networking the TiVo DVR. I was the architect for the TiVoToGo project which allows video content to be transferred between a TiVo DVR and a PC. I also worked on first generation of the TiVo Content Distribution Service. I was also lead architect for the Home Media Engine project. My goal was to turn the TiVo DVR into a platform for digital media.

At Strangeberry we developed webservices, digital media applications, Digital Video Recorder Software and Hardware. Most importantly we developed the Home Media Engine, which was later integrated into the TiVo DVR platform. Strangeberry was acquired by TiVo Inc. in January of 2004.

Founded and managed the company through a successful IPO. Grew the company from a 4-person startup to over 300 employees in 2000. Revenues have reached $44M in 2001.Hired and managed Marimba’s advanced development team which was responsible for designing and building Marimba’s patented distribution technology. Filed patents, resolved intellectual property issues, and submitted successful standards proposals.Headed Marimba’s services division. Hired the entire team, including the General Manager. Implemented and deployed the Marimba.net software distribution service at Exodus.

Designed and implemented many aspects of the JDK 1.0 including the Java compiler, the Java debugger, many of the standard Java classes, as well as the HotJava browser. Worked closely with James Gosling, Bill Joy, and Guy Steele on the design of the Java language. Presented at many conferences on Java technology.Responsible for the integration of Java into the Netscape and Microsoft browsers.

Created user interface development tools for the research community. Participated in a management buy-out to salvage the company. Completed my Master’s Degree.

Designed and built an interactive tool for developing accounting databases for the Apple Macintosh.
