Working as a member of the Engineering team to resolve resolving technical issues on a variety of products, primarily focusing on traction equipment for rail diesel multiple units.This involves supporting production with day to day technical issues, writing technical reports and assembling and presenting engineering change and risk assessment documentation. The development of testing procedures for rail engines, transmissions and hydrostatic systems is also conducted.Also assisting in the preparation of budgets, bids, and contracts and developing standard procedures and specifications for production to ensure cost effective improvements to product safety and reliability.Being the main technical point of contact for major customers (rail operators), presenting and explaining proposals, reports and findings. The production of key performance indicators (KPIs) on a regular basis, and using the results to drive improvements.Other responsibilities involve the drawing (CAD) and specifying of parts either via reverse engineering and analysis or for newly designed produced. Associated with this is the regular liaising with suppliers to ensure that any components are made to specification in a cost effective manner.

As part of the role, a new inventory management and recall system for tooling was developed and implemented, and the internal calibration of items was conducted in addition to sending items externally. Design and sourcing of bespoke measuring equipment was also a function of the role.Portable appliance testing (PAT) of electrical equipment on site was additionally conducted as required.
