I am the lead SDE of Pricing team at Amazon which is responsible for pricing millions of items sold by Amazon world-wide including programs like Amazon B2B, PrimeNow, Fresh and Campus.I love working with distributed systems, high throughput, low latency applications and finding pragmatic ways to solve business projects with solid engineering. Our team was responsible for filtering ads on Amazon which didn't meet the quality criteria (e.g. abusive ads). I explored various machine learning techniques to build an automated filtering system and built an exhaustive training and test bed to prove that Support Vector Machine (SVM) based model worked best for our use case.I exposed the functionality as a web service to allow other teams (e.g. customer reviews) to use it as well.
