I am a retired Lockheed Martin Corporate Fellow and Founder and CEO of Abtech Innovation, engaged in collaboration with the technical community, academia, and industry. I have held a variety of technical, management, and program leadership positions including five years as Chief Scientist of Strategic and Missile Defense Systems (SMD), the largest line of business at Lockheed Martin Space (LMS), and more than two decades as Thermal Sciences Group Manager at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC). As a Lockheed Martin (LM) Corporate Fellow, I was in the top one percent of all the technical staff of engineers and scientists across LM Corporation. My positions prior to joining LM included Deputy Head of Thermal Hydraulics Division at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Program Manager at SRI International. As a faculty at various universities, I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mathematics and multiple engineering subjects. I have served in numerous advisory boards and committees and have been an invited guest speaker in numerous forums. I have established and managed several small businesses and have served as an expert witness in U.S. Federal Courts. I received my PhD in Mechanical Engineering (thermal sciences) from University of California at Berkeley and I am a licensed professional engineer (PE) in State of California. I am a Life Fellow of ASME, Associate Fellow of AIAA, and author or co-author of over one hundred publications. In the technical community, I am internationally recognized as a highly-regarded subject matter expert and a visionary leader in thermal/fluid sciences, energy systems, and aerospace and defense technologies, among others. I have organized numerous conferences and technical sessions and have held many leadership positions in various professional societies.
