Win or learn. This phrase aligns with both my life experiences and the philosophy of the IT field.Until I joined the university, I had no idea what I wanted to do. My ideas kept changing with every movie I watched—once it was being a detective, then a scientist, a con man, a gangster, etc. Yet, I didn’t exactly have an interest in anything. So, people around me suggested that I try software engineering. Though I have meddled around with computers since I was a kid, I hated that subject at school because I couldn’t understand it. I thought I would end up doing something I’d hate for the rest of my life. Boy, was I wrong.Only on the first day of lectures did I realise that this was my field. I’ve always been interested in creating or building things, and it was surprising to see that the IT field is not just about logical thinking but creativity as well. Fortunately, I have a good balance of both ends of the spectrum. The moment when my imagination becomes real is truly satisfying. That satisfaction can be reflected in my work as well.During my years in university, I’ve discovered certain skills and qualities that make a good software engineer: patience, being receptive, problem solving, experiential learning, improvisation, and adaptability to situations. These skills are necessary for any field, especially in the IT field, which is constantly evolving.When it comes to experience with tools and technologies, I have built several websites using either WordPress or custom coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap). I’ve designed the UIs for these websites using Figma as well. In addition, I also have Adobe Suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, and After Effects) under my belt. I've also worked on two mobile app projects on the Flutter Framework that used the Dart language. I'm still eager to learn any new programming languages, frameworks, or principles that I may include into my future projects.
