• Part of a team consisting of 2 members operating at the top level of escalation and communicating directly with vendors when required.• Day to day service desk management for Birmingham and London offices. Utilising incident, change and problem management inline with ITIL best practice.• Responsible for maintaining and developing current IT/Communications systems available to the company. • Responsible for the testing, development and integration of new projects.• Involved in IT strategy/Development meetings with the Head of IT to discuss and plan current/future projects.• Self management on a day to day basis with a proactive and reactive approach.• Report directly to the Head of IT.

Responsibilities:• Provision of desktop support in an enterprise environment• Supporting remote users• Working with call logging tools to track and maintain call status• Troubleshooting and maintenance of desktops, laptops and printers• Operating Systems; Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Server• Installing and configuring software via SCCM• Administration of Microsoft Active Directory accounts and groups• IT equipment moves and changes / setup• Asset and license tracking

• Providing technical support and implementation for a large scale full system upgrade project for the Ministry of Defence in Afghanistan• The aim of the project was to migrate and upgrade a largely physical Windows Server 2003 environment to a more complex but easily managed virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 environment. The purpose of this upgrade was to ensure the smooth running of operations by providing cutting edge client services for the 5000+ users and also provide Hot sites at lower costs.• Liaising with Ministry of Defence representatives to provision the physical security of communications compounds in locations across the regions of Afghanistan.• Installing rack-able HP ProLiant Blade servers, HP MS2000/P4500 Storage Devices, Uninterrupted Power Supplies, Cisco 3600 Layer 3 clustered switches whilst applying and adhering to MOD Tempest and secure access policies. • Configuration of VMware vCenter 5 onto blade servers, with the additional deployment of an average of 30-40 virtual servers (Microsoft Server 2008 R2, Microsoft Server 2003, Linux) per site, spanning over 10-15 sites.• Client support for Windows 7 users.

• Providing close technical support to deployable forces in the UK and overseas.• Overseeing communication systems planning, implementation and lone support on highly sensitive overseas operation integral to the safety of forces personnel, foreign nationals and mission critical objectives.• Ensuring that data storage devices that hold sensitive information have been encrypted to the requirement that is needed.• Ensuring the secure transport of Secret and Top Secret data by adhering to strict security policies and procedures. Using IP encryption devices that use high grade 128bit hashing algorithms to tunnel data across public networks.• Ensuring that exhausted data storage devices are successfully wiped of all data and meet MOD standards before being destroyed.• Everyday technical support for enterprise applications on deployable HP based IT systems. Including but not restricted to Microsoft Server 2003, Windows XP, Microsoft Exchange 2003, Microsoft SharePoint, IIS Management, VPN's.
