The role of Student Ambassador at UWE is a very versatile role that allows you to get a taste of many different skillsets and positions. I have assisted in Computer Science course talks delivered to prospective students and their parents, as well as planning and delivering a coding taster session to college students visiting UWE. My role also included planning and organising UWE graduation events and ceremonies. This role helped me improve my networking skills and allowed me to strengthen my relationships with various UWE departments and teams, while being a part of many of the behind-the-scenes planning that happens prior to big scale events.

In this term-time role I have been able to learn and experience many new and unique opportunities. It is a role that focused on improving the wellbeing of students at UWE in many unique ways. We planned and organised events for students to socialise in various situations, from quiet gatherings with board games and hot drinks, to sports activities that included team work and active collaborations.Furthermore, I had the opportunity to be involved in content creating for the Student Life Team, which included social media posts and website blogs that had various advice and information, like tips and tricks for students during exam season or how to get support for their mental health.

As a PAL Leader, I assisted new Computer Science students in their journey at UWE during their first year, such as helping international students adjust to the various university demands that are unique to them, while ensuring everyone is able to supplement their studies with self-learning and exploring resources suitable for their skills and desires. As a result, many students applied to become PAL Leaders themselves the following year, while some started the Programming society at UWE. It was a very fulfilling role and I was happy to see all the students I mentored perform well in the following year.
