In my Ph.D. I was working on Architectures and Algorithms for Cloud-Based Multimedia Conferencing. In this work, I proposed a novel cloud-based architecture to simplify provisioning the conferencing applications for expert and non-expert application providers. Also, I proposed different scaling algorithms in the PaaS and IaaS layer of the cloud to scale the conferencing applications while guaranteeing the QoS and reduce the resource cost.

In this project which was partial with Concordia University and Ericsson, I was designing cloud architectures for scalable and elastic multimedia conferencing applications such as distance learning and massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs). In addition, I designed algorithms to scale in an efficient way to reduce cost, while meeting the required quality of services. During this project, I proposed platforms as a service (PaaS) that will enable the provisioning of scalable and elastic multimedia conferencing applications. I also research and proposed the corresponding Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).My main responsibilities in this work: Designing scalable and elastic cloud architectures (in all SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS layers) Designing scalable algorithms for resource allocation to reduce cost and increase QoS Designing and developing APIs and RESTful web services Documenting all processes and writing academic papers Developing and deploying applications on public clouds such as AWS
