A camp naturalist is a lover of the outdoors and someone who loves to share what they know about nature with others. A camp naturalist provides visitor services by answering questions, explaining regulations, providing information about the camp and surrounding areas and dealing with any complaints. They also prepare and present lectures, talk about the camp's features, and conduct field trips to point out historic, scientific and natural features of forests, parks and historic sites. Through team building exercises such as high and low ropes courses, physical and cognitive challenges, a camp naturalist empowers participants to have confidence in themselves and their peers. A camp naturalist will also educate participants in environmental art and science endeavors, arts and crafts and and other outdoor focused leisure activities.
