Profile bio

About Abbe Ewell Longstein

I am an enthusiastic facilitator whose passion is learning about others – communities, groups, individuals – and working to align resources with existing needs. I believe that communities often contain great amounts of untapped abilities, talents and skills which can be leveraged to ensure individuals and groups are performing more productively and cohesively toward common goals. I enjoy bringing out the best in others through coaching, feedback and learning about their unique talents and interests. I have nearly twenty years of non-profit experience focused on promoting community development and volunteerism; partnership cultivation; program design and implementation; facilitating groups, small and large; designing and facilitating soft-skill improvement trainings; leading teambuilding initiatives; advancing leadership development with adults and youth; leading service-learning programs and reflections. My love for adventure and quest to live as an active citizen was cultivated by my parents from an early age and really took off in college when I joined the alternative breaks movement. Since then, there's been no looking back as I've built my career in the non-profit sector helping others stretch and grow. While meeting with city leaders to discuss how Play Everywhere solutions can offset other challenges faced by community members, working with youth on Chicago's south side, cultivating learning opportunities through internal employee loan programs, or building a school alongside community members in a remote, rural village of a developing country - I always find the most joy in connecting with individuals. I have extensive experience with asset based community development, project management, staff development, equity and inclusion, volunteer engagement, instructional design, training delivery and evaluation, event planning, recognition practices, coaching and mentoring.

Listed skills include Community Outreach, Training, Leadership, Youth Development, and 23 others.
