My role as events coordinator for the Mission department involved the creation and implementation of major Mission events within St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne which included significant ceremonies such as ANZAC Day, NAIDOC Week and Christmas. I was also responsible for the coordination of the end of year Christmas event for 1,500 staff as well as the coordination and distribution of gifts to all staff working Christmas day.My role was moved over to the Communications Department where the responsibilities grew to include staff & community engagement events.

Program Coordinator Of Cancer Servies

•The coordination of 11 separate cancer specific multidisciplinary teams, which equated to over 300 individual meetings in 2015. This includes providing and seeking technical advice in regards to a state of the art multidisciplinary room, and coordinating tele/videoconferencing on a weekly basis between St Vincent’s Hospital and regional hospitals. •The organizing and management of events within the cancer center including the launch of the Toyota and Cancer Center program. This was a large-scale event where the CEO of both St Vincent’s Hospital and of Toyota were present as well as other executive members of both businesses. •Assisted in organizing multiple fundraising events for the Cancer Centre, which have included cake stalls, BBQ events and staff events including Christmas parties. Over the two-year period we have raised over $6,000 for the Cancer Centre.•The coordination of the ‘Look Good Feel Better’ events within the hospital, which requires liaising with patients who are undergoing treatment for cancer and booking them into a feel good program which is run by volunteers from the ‘Look Good Feel Better’ organization.•The implantation of videoconferencing into multidisciplinary meetings, which has lead to an increase in rural patient referrals allowing us to offer greater care to patients in rural areas, this has significantly improved communication between metro and regional hospitals.•The updating of St Vincent’s Hospital Cancer Services internet & intranet site in order to simplify and streamline information; including external links, tumor meeting manuals and referral forms.•Working alongside the Cancer Nurse Coordinators to ensure their meetings run smoothly and effectively. I am also responsible for running orientation sessions for new medical staff, which includes developing a standardized manual for the Cancer Centre. This has led to new doctors within the unit more quickly adjusting to the practices of the Cancer Centre

My duties include--Event Coordinating weekly speed dating events around Melbourne’s CBD which includes setting up at selected venues to make it appropriate for a speed dating event.-Hosting the event, which requires being able to speak to a variety of group sizes ranging from 15 – 130 people depending on the event. The role requires good communication skills and customer service skills to ensure everyone is enjoying their night. Problem solving skills are also needed for this role for example What to do if there is a severe storm in Melbourne which leaves people stuck on public transport and in traffic while others are waiting for the event to start on time.-Engaging with a variety of personalities and working out the best way to approach them and make them feel comfortable i.e. for someone who rarely gets out to socialize I would make a conscious effort to ensure I assisted them by introducing them to people at the event and helping them “break the ice” this helps reduce the chances of the person spending the whole night in the corner to shy to approach people to have a chat.- Liaising with venue staff to ensure all catering and drinks are organized for the event.
