It was always a dream of mine to play softball at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I started playing at a very young age and quickly adopted the family tradition of being a die-hard Cornhusker fan. After going to athletic events of all kinds, I looked up to Husker athletes as role models and longed to be one someday. In the fall of 2020, that dream became my reality when I got the opportunity to join the Nebraska softball team. So far, I have enjoyed serving on our team’s Unity Council to discuss outreach opportunities and voice areas of potential growth in our program, and being a member of N-Volved, a social climate discussion group. When I walked into of Bowlin stadium for the first time, I didn’t yet understand what being a Cornhusker meant, but over the last two years, I have learned that being a Husker means striving for excellence in everything I do, embracing the journey, and maximizing the positive impact that our team has on the community and the little girls that are watching in the same seats where I once sat. In the future, I will continue to strive for excellence in my career as a business professional. My experiences as a University of Nebraska student-athlete have promoted my leadership, communication, and relational skills, and prepared me to tackle new challenges in the workplace.
