This one-year internship involved helping to deliver UoM’s goals for Social Responsibility, by co-ordinating various volunteering events and working alongside local charities seeking the support of our student volunteers.

Each summer, I worked alongside the brilliant team at Heckfield Park Farm as a market gardener. This involved planting, growing and harvesting produce and flowers for the hotel, Heckfield Place, as well as helping with the general upkeep of the market garden. I also helped to run the market stalls when open to the general public, where we would sell our top quality biodynamic produce.

During term time in my first year at UoM, I worked as a Campus Tour Guide, showing around prospective students who were interested in viewing the university’s campus and accommodation. This involved leading around groups of 5-20 and answering questions as a representative.

Throughout my school studies I held up a part time job in retail.

In order to help out the staff at recruitment firm Rapid Personnel, I stepped in as a temporary employee, carrying out administrative tasks on behalf of staff who were on leave. This allowed me to gain experience of working in an office role, where I would communicate with and support clients of migrant backgrounds who were looking to be connected with employers. The job also involved handling paperwork and organising the company’s online database.
