I am a community health promotion professional with experience in management and leadership, teaching and writing, and research and evaluation. I am interested in all aspects of health promotion programs, in particular the intervention design and grant writing, as well as the program development and daily management. I am adept at incorporating theory with best practices, considering both strategy and details, along with integrating quantitative and qualitative techniques. The two primary approaches I utilize are: 1) making environmental changes in the community to improve access and availability, and 2) launching social marketing campaigns to address the core values of the target population. I enjoy engaging with neighborhood members, community partners, and the local government in my advocacy efforts ranging from individual health behavior changes to public policy development.Specialties:- Promoting physical activity (especially those participated in over the life-span) and nutrition (especially increasing whole grains and decreasing processed foods) while also focusing on a healthy body image.- Advocating for food system reform, especially around sustainable farming, ethically-sourced food (i.e. organic, non-GMO, local, and fair trade), food waste reduction, and increasing composting (and other recycling) rates.
