With experience in both clinical and macro roles, my background in social work is broadly applicable. For the previous decade I’ve worked with populations and in settings that run the gamut.My experience includes adult inpatient substance use treatment, community-based intensive treatment providing trauma-focused crisis intervention for adolescents and their families, grassroots nonprofit program development for trans youth and their loved ones, medical internship with OHSU connecting rural trans patients to affirming care, remote adult crisis work with community members who have military, SPMI, and SUDs backgrounds spanning the state of Oregon, and medical social work in one of Portland’s most highly utilized children’s emergency departments during the height of COVID. My most recent work has introduced me to utilization management/medical necessity review interacting with Oregon’s Psychiatric Security Review Board, the Oregon State Hospital, the Oregon Health Authority, Adult Foster Home providers and individuals living in secure residential treatment facilities among other community placements. My work has intersected with the education system, foster care system, juvenile and adult justice systems, and the Oregon Department of Human Services including the intellectual & developmental disabilities program and aging and people with disabilities division, among others. I am particularly strong with regard to trauma-informed care, intuitive crisis support, returning to humility, intersectional insight, self-awareness and it’s implications for client/patient/consumer relationships, creative solutions-based approaches, a delegating leadership style, personal self-care, client confidentiality and tact, political advocacy, systems know-how, team building, and crisp documentation skills. I am both a student and a mentor seeking mission driven work in a person-centered culture. I thrive in environments that push my boundaries of knowledge, and challenge me to lean into the practice of cultural humility.
