Currently I sit on the Board of Directors as the Secretary. I am responsible for organizing the meetings, taking meeting minutes, and enjoy getting involved in advocacy efforts. Working with the City of Hamilton and Cycle Hamilton, I orchestrated the fourth annual Winter Bike to Work Day in Hamilton in 2019 with the highest number of participants to date. I collaboratively worked with various stakeholders to ensure the event was a success and highlighted local businesses such as Donut Monster, Bikeables, Green Venture, Smart Commute, SoBi, and New Hope Community Bikes.

As the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Academic Sustainability Programs Office, I have the privilege of acting as a resource expert to the campus and Hamilton community on sustainability, leadership development, education, and community engagement.

In my roles with both the Academic Sustainability Programs Office and MacChangers Program, I have had the opportunity over the past three years to connect diverse community members and campus partners on over 150 community projects which addressed various pressing challenges. A few of the projects I have supported include: creating the Student Sustainability Ambassadors Program which fosters student community in a virtual environment; researched and published a project summary about Facilitating Community-based Student Projects across Academic Departments; supported in a student-led project prototyping a Fentanyl overdose prevention product; and mentored students to submit an application for McMaster to become the 14th Bee Certified Campus in Canada. The complexity of my two roles allows me to think creatively, value community experiences and knowledge, foster ongoing collaboration, and create new relationships with members of the Hamilton and campus community.

The mission of the Academic Sustainability Programs Office at McMaster University is to inspire in all students a desire for continued learning and inquiry through experiential education.As the Coordinator of Academic Sustainability Programs, I am responsible for numerous aspects of the ASP office. I improve and modify sustainability course programs, coordinate our communication channels and social media, plan and facilitate networking and community engagement events, assist in the delivery and publishing of student research projects, as well as complete general office administration tasks.

As a Foster Family, I raise 7 week old puppies until they are 14 months of age and socialize the dogs. This involves training basic obedience, taking the dogs to grocery stores, on buses, to shopping centres, and work, to ensure they are confident in any environment. After 14 months of age, the dogs return to the Guide Dog facility for rigorous training where they are assessed to determine which program they are best suited for. I am currently fostering my 5th dog, an Apricot Poodle named Fleming.

I work with a number of clients to create social media content for them and manage their social media channels. I also design posters, website banners, reports, and social media graphics using the Adobe suite and Canva. Additionally, I play a lead role in the creative direction of photo and video shoots.

As a member of the Sustainable Business Initiative (SBI) team I assisted in implementing businesses’ with strategic plans to make their businesses more sustainable. Work that I assisted with has been to research reductions in carbon emissions, writing policy for local hiring, monitoring energy usage, waste management for businesses and more.

At Dofasco I supported the Corporate Affairs team sourcing and creating content for internal and external communications vehicles including social media, website, marketing collateral, events and presentations, employee magazine, internal display network and intranet. I participated in the development of strategic communications plans for both internal and external communications. I contributed to AMD public policy advocacy efforts [at various levels of government (Municipal, Provincial and Federal)] through research, analysis and development of policy positions.

Through Stadium Hostessing I was privileged with the opportunity to work at various events such as Toronto Argonauts football, Budlight Sensation, PanAm opening and closing ceremony, as well as various concerts. For three seasons, I worked as a server and bartender in the TD comfort clubhouse assisting VIP members for the Blue Jays.
