Hello! My name is Abby Burns and I am a Visual Communications student studying Information Graphics and Publication Design at Ohio University.Growing up, I always had a creative mind and a desire to pursue arts. I was introduced to graphic design when I became the design manager for my high school’s spirit store. I was able to mentor a group of students about the art and creative process of design.At Ohio University, I have had the opportunity to engage in many design and leadership-based endeavors. I currently work as the Creative Director for a student-run magazine called Backdrop, where I create spread/layout designs and cover illustrations. Furthermore, I am a graphic designer for the Ohio University Division I Hockey team, where I create weekly social media posts. In addition to these leadership positions, I am a member of the Ohio University Multimedia Society and the Ohio Honors Program.In the summer of 2023, I was given the amazing opportunity to work with Ghent, a GMi Company, as their first marketing intern. Through my short 3 months working with the marketing team, I was able to gain insight into the business side of graphic design and what it takes to fully launch and market new products from start to finish. These leadership opportunities have allowed me to make meaningful connections and build myself professionally.
