About Abby Cussons

I am a recent graduate of the Honours Bachelor of Science program from the University of Guelph with a major in Neuroscience and minor in Psychology. I'm a dedicated and hardworking student who is focused on pursuing a career in psychotherapy and my research interests include maternal and paediatric mental health as well as neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder.     I was recruited by the qualitative team after my time as a volunteer to be a research assistant with the SUMMIT trial through the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital. I am involved with a variety of projects focusing on data collection and analysis within the larger scope of the study. I continue to work closely with the qualitative team and other departments to conduct and code a variety of interviews with participants. Beyond this, I rely heavily on my organizational and communication skills to work collaboratively to analyze the incoming qualitative data as well as to recruit participants and manage scheduling for interviews and time to code the findings. I spend a large portion of my time engaging with participants to discuss their experiences which requires me to implement compassionate skills along with my foundational knowledge of psychological disorders.
